Libby Marrochia

Second Year Interior Design Student

Hello,

my name is Libby, I’m a 2nd Year BA(Hons) Interior Design student at the University of Huddersfield. I am actively seeking a placement year opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on real time projects alongside professionals in the interior design industry.

My portfolio features my first and second-year projects, along with my CV and achievements. It also includes insights from design shows and places I’ve visited in my free time, which have inspired and supported my project work.

Achievements

Interior Design Society

In my second year of studies, I joined the Interior Design Society to create more opportunities for interior design students across all year groups, allowing them to get involved in activities and participate in off-campus trips. We had the amazing opportunity of organising a charity social event in December 2024 to support 'Save the Children,' where participants had the choice of wearing Christmas jumpers for a donation to our chosen charity. This event featured festive treats for everyone to enjoy. We are also planning a trip to the ‘Surface Design Show’ in London this year to allow students the opportunity to network with companies and gain insight into the latest products and materials.

Charity Fundraising

Within my spare time I enjoy participating in Charity events to raise money for meaningful causes.

I recently took part in the 5K Race for life Mud Run for Cancer Research and raised £270.00 + £48.75 Gift Aid. This charity event challenges your strength, agility, and endurance with physical mud obstacles like climbing walls, tunnels, crawling nets and to finish with a slide into a mud pit. I’m extremely proud of this achievement, as it took me out of my comfort zone and pushed me both physically and mentally all while raising funds for an important cause.

I also participated in the '27 Miles in 27 Days' challenge for the charity ‘Mind’ raising £246.00 in support of students mental health at Metropolitan University. Roller skating is one of my favourite hobbies, so I decided to challenge myself by completing the event on roller skates, with my dog Milo accompanying me for extra support. As this was my first charity event it was an achievement in itself to participate and raise money for a charity that I have a high level of respect and admiration for.

I am currently planning a skydiving event next year to raise money for a chosen charity, allowing me to do something I’m passionate about while making a positive impact for others.
